  • "Kopi Luwak" is certainly the rarest and most expensive coffee in the world. It originates from Sumatra Island and is produced in very small quantities from a little animal locally called "Luwak". This animal, during the night, goes into the best coffee plantations and feeds of the sweetest and ripest berries selecting them one by one. The gastric juices that favor its digestion create a fermentation process that is absolutely unique for coffee, thus explaining its totally different and original taste. The beans, once swallowed and then expelled by this small marsupial, are collected and then disinfected. The coats containing the beans are broken and beans are washed, dried and packed. Its taste is extremely thick and strong, characterized by a flavor of cocoa, aromatic herbs and bitter orange marmalade. Its dense and very persistent aftertaste gives us the sensation of the rhubarb essence.

It is cultivated in the Blue Mountain area and it is found in very limited quantities, due to a strict control of the production that, starting from the growth of the young plants, goes on with the manual harvesting of the ripe berries, up the the final processing stage. This product is not packet in the usual jute sacks like other types of coffee but it is preserved and protected in wooden barrels. Exactly like Rum. Its taste is very aromatic, and thick. In its taste we can distinguish the flavors of vanilla, cocoa, almond, melted butter and a pleasant scent of tobacco. Sweet, long and persistent taste, certainly the King of coffees.
