Panettone
In English
A large, round yeasted Italian fruit cake, traditionally eaten at Christmas. It's baked in a special tubular mould
to give it height. They're beautifully packaged in tall decorated boxes and available from Italian delis and some
larger supermarkets, although they're generally only available seasonally.
Panettone can be served as a dessert, accompanied by sweet wine; it's also delicious toasted and spread with butter,
or used in place of bread in a bread and butter pudding.
